Northrend Beasts Notes (Extra)

Some more information. My guild and I just cleared out the encounter on 10 man.

We brought a standard loadout:

  • 2 tanks
  • 3 healers
  • 5 DPS

Here’s a few extra notes.

Phase 1: Gormok the Impaler

Looks like the Snobolds are the ones dropping fires. The person attacked by the Snobold cannot attack the Snobold himself. That person has to stay on the boss as there’s nothing else they can do. The rest of the raid has to clear out the Snobolds as fast as possible. Looks like they’re the ones that drop fires on the ground.

Our tanks switched between 3-4 Impale debuffs.

Phase 2: Acidmaw and Dreadscale

When you kill one snake, the other will enrage.

Phase 3: Icehowl

When he does his leap knocking players to the wall, everyone will be stunned for a few seconds. He’ll focus a player, and then run towards him. At this time, all players gain some sort of a speed increase to help them get clear.

If he manages to hit a player, he will enrage. But it’s temporary. Looks like it lasts for around 10 or so seconds before it wears off.

All in all, very good fun!

Note: 3 Emblems of Triumph drop from the first encounter

  1. We ran 2 tanks (Paladin/Druid), 6 DPS (2xPaladin, Rogue, Boomkin, Ele-Shaman, Mage), and 2 healers (Tree and Holy Priest). Healing wasn’t a real issue it seemed.

We got the achievment for the Jormungers – we just assumed they would enrage like R&J.

Hardest part of the encounter was getting someone with the fire debuff over to the tank with the poison debuff.

Overall – a fun encounter. Nicely tuned IMO for a guild stepping out of 10 man Uld raiding with some hard mode loot.

  2. @Silk, our guild did 2 10man runs utilizing 2 healers, both were 1 shots (after doing 25man). So yes, very much doable.

On 25 Man the enrage is barely noticeable; we found it easy to burn through Acidmaw and heal through the weak increase in dmg. You just don;t have a chance at the achievement that way.

  4. Yeah wasn’t that hard to 2 heal in our experience either. I do think its much easier to kill Acidmaw first rather than try and take them together (the paralysing debuff is far and away the hardest thing to “get” about this encounter – much worse than the enrage).

I do think though people can assist killing the snobolds on themselves (not sure if that is a bug but we found it was possible)

  5. Phase 1 is beyond easy, just burn the boss with an occasional tank swap. If a healer gets snobold’d they are restricted to instant cast heals until it is removed.

Phase 2 is much more healer intensive. We found burning Acidmaw and then taking Dreadscale to be the easiest method. Otherwise the poison is too much after a few minutes.

Phase 3 is all about knowing how to run and splitting your heals. When he focuses on your or someone near you just run right or left. If he does manage to hit you the enrage is removable with Tranq shot.

Does anyone know who the boss for next week is?
