Oh Chakra, How You’ve Changed

Keybinds.

So many keybinds.

Another expansion means more new spells and abilities and we’re gradually running out of keys to use. Chakra’s been split three ways now. As you know, the corresponding bonus you get from Chakra is decided base on what spell you use immediately after Chakra has activated.

Now you can just activate whichever Chakra you want by hitting a button.

So on the one hand, that’s nice because you don’t have to rely on spell selection anymore to get the Chakra you want.

Question: No more fat fingering the wrong spell and being in the wrong Chakra stance. Hands up! How many times did mistakenly  you hit Prayer of Mending after casting Chakra and being in Chakra: Sanctuary instead of being in Chakra: Serenity specifically for a phase?

On the other hand, now I have to find a way to free up more keys for the individual Chakra bonuses. I figure I can just stick to Chakra: Serenity and Chakra: Sanctuary. Not sure how often I’d use Chakra: Chastise unless I’m leveling.

  1. Agreed. I personally think they should just bite the bullet and give us a ‘mode bar’ like our friends in the Druid profession.

    •  @Zonk I was thinking the same thing, Zonk. With this change, Chakra looks more akin to my forms or a warrior’s stances. The main reason I can see for them not implementing Chakra as a “mode bar” is due to the limited duration. If you look at a class that does have the UI element, it’s often used for permanent status changes, e.g. Blood Presence. Now, if they changed Chakra into a sort of stance system for Holy, then I’d say it’d behoove them to use the bar for each Chakra state. All that being said, I have all my forms hotkeyed in places aside from the form bar, including the ones that may not need to be (Flight Form/Travel Form/Aquatic Form).

  2. Well… there is nothing stopping you from making your own stance bar with a bar mod.
Question: Are the new Chakra spells on the GCD?

  3. Will there be a way to macro it? Not even just for the two stances on one button, but a macro such as combining Prayer of Healing w/ Chakra: Sanctuary just so every prayer you do is more badass. (Is there still a CD for swapping between them?) I assume there would be, else we’d all be macro’ing every heal spell to the beneficial stance…

  4. You can macro this to the same key and have it just switch between the two Chakras you think you’ll use the most, and then put the third on a modifier of the same key (shift, alt, or option).
