SSO Rep will net you a very nice healing neck now: http://www.wowwiki.com/Shattered_Sun_Pendant_of_Restoration

Also, should check out the new Rep Reward PvP Blue gear for a quick an easy starter healing set.

I would like to recommend getting the S2 Mace weapon from BG honor over anything else. At 400+ healing, it easily beats anything Pre SSC.

A better choice for weapons might be Epoch-Mender (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28033) over The Essence Focuser. It's easy to get (drops in reg BM), has slightly better stats, and is a decent placeholder til you get exalted Sha'tar.

I would say the headband of Simm'onz is a good starting point for a head piece. Sure, there are better, but waiting for a drop sometimes sucks and anything that is a almost as good from a quest reward is nice. Also the blue cape from doing a quest for ramparts is a nice starting point if you are too lazy to farm stuff.

Ok, ignore the one about Veteran's Kodohide Bracers, unless you want to spend 25 badges on them. Only just found out that S2 non-set gear isn't available through PVP anymore!

I know you said that you were considering gear that was mail, but the Veteran's Kodohide Bracers (leather) have some mp5 whereas the Ringmail Bracers (mail) only has spellcrit. Just something to consider if you're lacking on mp5.

Also, the Gladiator's Salvation (and S2/S3 upgrades) are a vast improvement on Gavel of Pure Light. They lose the 8mp5 but have a massive 375 healing compared to 299. With a +81 healing enchant that's over 450 healing with one piece of gear. Of course at 25,200 Honor Points (and 20 EOTS marks) it will take a while to grind out, but still probably not as long as it would take to get exalted with Sha'tar!

Finally, the Netherfury Leggings, although designed for a Elemental Shaman, when gemmed correctly, can make a formidable set of leggings, and because it's made by a leatherworker, it's really easy to get. With 3 Royal Nightseyes, you get a total of +56 healing and 16mp5, before you apply any spellthread.

Other than these things, thanks for this guide! It's been a real help with gearing up my shammy :)

Just my 2cents on the aldor vs scryer rep ... as +10 heal = 1 mp5, checkmate scryers. I totally agree with you that one should go mp5 over a small amount of heals.
